Rental Property Regulations

In 2001, the township adopted Rental Unit Regulations:

  • To protect and promote the public health, safety and welfare of residents within the township
  • To establish the obligations of both owners and tenants of rental units within the township to improve the maintenance and quality of rental units by compliance with applicable codes and ordinances of the township
  • To preserve the residential quality of neighborhoods by reducing the geographic concentration of college and other students residing within the township
  • To require the licensing of rental units and to establish procedures for the issuance of formal warnings, the loss of privilege to rent to student tenants and the non-renewal and suspension of such license

Rental Housing Application

Property owners are required to register rental units with the Township and pay an annual fee based upon the number of dwelling units in a building. All new rentals shall be reviewed for compliance prior to a rental license being issued.

Student Housing Regulations

Radnor Township is the home to several educational institutions necessitating the need for off-campus housing for the students of the various institutions. This has resulted in the conversion of existing single family dwellings to student housing. As a result of this conversion, and the desire to preserve the residential quality of our existing neighborhoods, the Township has established regulations to control the concentration of students within the Township. These regulations have been established in order to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the Radnor Community.

New Student Housing requires a Special Exception from the Radnor Township Zoning Hearing Board.

Definition of Family
