The mission of the Community Development Department is to serve the residents of Radnor Township through the administration and enforcement of regulatory ordinances adopted by the Board of Commissioners to assure the health, safety, and welfare of everyone involved in the Radnor experience. Its mission is also to provide efficient and courteous service to all members of the community, and to be dedicated to the continued effort towards maintaining a secure and pleasant environment, while striving to further enhance the quality of life that has become synonymous with Radnor Township residency.

New Construction & Development

Preserving and enhancing Radnor Township's quality of life at the close of the 20th century has continued to revolve, in large part, around effectively planned growth and development. Since the early 1960's, Radnor has been characterized by sustained growth in the number of residences, offices, and commercial establishments and in the size of its institutions. This has resulted both in an enhanced local tax base but also in a shrinking inventory of open space, leaving an almost fully developed Township.

Requests for Land Development

All requests for land development and subdivision in Radnor are process through the Engineering Department and reviewed for compliance with the Township's zoning code and subdivision ordinance by the community development, public works, and engineering departments. Their findings are considered by the Planning Commission, which also evaluates projects' adherence to the comprehensive land use plan. The Board of Commissioners then reviews the recommendations of staff and Planning Commission members before deciding to approve or reject a proposal.
