Ithan Creek flows through the South Wayne area.  During heavy rains, the Creek, which consists of alternating underground or under roadway culverts and open channels, is often unable to contain the stormwater, which results in flooding, most notably on South Wayne Avenue in the vicinity of the War Memorial and along Midland Ave and St. Davids Avenue.  There are two ongoing projects to address flooding and stormwater management.  One focuses on South Wayne Avenue and is currently under construction.  The other is at the feasibility study phase to determine a cost effective solution to the flooding on Midland and St. Davids.
