Philadelphia's Main Line and Radnor Township have become synonymous with excellence in education. The area reaps untold, tangible and intangible benefits from the nearby presence of literally dozens of public and private educational institutions.

The School District

The School District of Radnor Township is among the cream of the public education crop nationally and is one of the most frequently cited reasons of new residents for moving to Radnor. The school district is responsible for the operation of the public school system in the township, serving approximately 3,593 students in grades K through 12.

Accolades

Both the high school and middle school have been awarded the President's prestigious Medal for Education Excellence. In addition, the school system has been recognized by several other local, state, and national groups and publications for its outstanding educational quality. The school district is consistently listed by Consumer Reports in the top percentile of school districts throughout the country for value received in terms of the percentage of graduating high school seniors going onto 4-year colleges, the number of national merit finalists, and average SAT scores. Radnor High School ranked 4th best high school in Pennsylvania and 265th nationally by U.S. News and World Report in 2021 Best U.S. High Schools.  Newsweek named RTSD the #1 School District in PA in 2021 "Best School District in Every State." Radnor High School ranked #9 STEM High School in PA and #319 STEM High School in U.S. by Newsweek in November 2020. RTSD Ranked Best School District in Pennsylvania and 12th Best School District in America by Niche.com in 2022 Public School Rankings.

Over 20,000 students attend private educational institutions located in the Township. The largest of these is Villanova University, with 10,942 students in 2020.
