Yes! New for 2024, Radnor Day Camp will be offering Aftercare from 3:00-5:00pm. 

Aftercare will be led in partnership with Leading Edge, a local before and aftercare provider. The staff from Leading Edge will provide a structured afternoon of engaging and age-appropriate activities and a snack will be provided.

You may register your camper(s) for the entire summer ($525) or drop-in day to day ($30/day, subject to availability). At this time, prorated options for aftercare are not available and participating families must choose from the two current registration choices. Aftercare is dependent upon successful participation numbers and may be canceled or modified if minimum registrations are not met.

Aftercare participants must be picked up by a parent/guardian anytime before but no later than 5:00pm. Bus transportation is not available for aftercare.

RDC will operate on a structured daily schedule taking place indoors and outdoors at Radnor Elementary School. Activities include but are not limited to sports and games, creative arts and crafts, team building exercises, performing arts, swimming & water games, field trips, weekly group-based special event traditions such as Camp Olympics, Camp Carnival, and many others! Campers rotate through activities on a weekly basis that changes week to week. 

Camper groups may consist of participants from multiple grades depending on registration. The size of each group may range from 20-30 campers plus group leaders and Special Needs Support Staff as needed. Groups will maintain a staff member to camper ratio of 1:10 – this number may be slightly lower for younger campers and slightly higher for older campers. The number of groups and camper group assignments will be determined through the final registration process for campers. 

Camper groups will be bussed off-site for swimming 1 to 2 times per week (location TBD - either Radnor High School indoor pool or Club La Maison outdoor pool). The swimming program will consist of structured, group swim lessons as well as recreational swim time, and will be supervised by Radnor Day Camp's Aquatics Coordinator, certified lifeguards, and Group Leaders/Special Needs Support Staff as needed.

Upon registration, you will be asked to indicate your child's swim level and will need to give permission in order for your child to swim. It is recommended that all campers bring their own goggles to wear during instructional lessons. 

At the beginning of the summer, the Aquatics Director and lifeguards will conduct a swim test for all campers to better determine their swim level and comfort level in the pool. This will determine the areas and depths in which campers are or are not permitted during swimming. 

If your camper is new to swimming and you are more comfortable sending them with a swim vest/floaties you are welcome to do so. Our Aquatics Coordinator will work with campers to encourage them to learn how to swim without the assistance of floatation devices but will also allow the use of them as needed during the swim program. 

If your child has special circumstances or requirements, please contact the Radnor Township Parks & Recreation Department as soon as possible to understand if accommodations can be made as necessary, and as possible by our Department. Radnor Township makes every effort to make accommodations for campers with a variety of special needs including food allergies, mental, and physical disabilities.

If a participant receives extra support or assistance at their school, Radnor Township will strive to provide a similar amount of support at the request of the family. However, due to limitations on staffing, facilities, and other conditions, we may not be able to safely meet the individual’s needs.

The Radnor Township Participant Information Form must be received for review by our Department as soon as possible, and is part of the online registration process.

Radnor Day Camp works closely with Radnor Township School District's Department of Special Education to provide modified registration options for campers who will participate in both Radnor Day Camp and one of the following RTSD summer school programs: Extended School Year (ESY); Reading/Literacy Camp; English Langue Development (ELD); Social Skills Camp. 

On days that the RTSD program(s) overlaps with the RDC program, your child will attend RTSD (9:00-12:00) and then RDC for the afternoon. Bussing will be provided by RTSD to transport your camper from the RTSD location to RDC. Your child will eat lunch upon arrival at RDC before joining in with their camper group. On days that the RTSD program does not overlap, campers will attend RDC for a full day unless you specify otherwise.

PLEASE NOTE: Certain components of Radnor Day Camp will overlap with the RTSD summer program schedules which may including but is not limited to: field trips, swimming, special events (e.g. End of Camp Performance and Art Show, Camp Carnival), and other specialty activity periods. Therefore, campers who participate in an RTSD program will not be guaranteed to participate in all specialty activities throughout the summer. The activity schedule will vary each day and each week for each camper group. You have the option to send your camper to RDC on days when special events or activities occur, however it is your responsibility to communicate accordingly with RDC staff as well as RTSD staff. Additionally, if a field trip or other specialty activity is occurring off-site and the departure for the camper group is scheduled prior to when your camper will arrive after the conclusion of their RTSD program, they may be required to participate with another group of campers or not attend camp that afternoon, if applicable.

If you register your camper at one of the prorated options for an RTSD program and it is later determined that your child will not be participating in an RTSD program, you will be responsible for paying the full amount due for Radnor Day Camp.

Radnor Day Camp offers daily transportation via bus through Radnor Township School District's Transportation Department. You also have the option of driving or walking your camper to and from camp on a daily basis.

BUS TRANSPORTATION:
When your register, there is a list of bus stop locations located throughout Radnor Township. The transportation schedule with pick-up and drop-off times for buses will be available in early June once details are finalized with the Radnor Township School District Transportation Department. Any unexpected weekly changes to a camper’s arrival or departure time needs to be communicated by the parent/guardian via written notice to the RDC Director(s). Radnor Day Camp does not provide Bus Monitors on camp buses or at designated bus stops.

PARENT/GUARDIAN DROP-OFF & PICK-UP
Drop off will begin at 9:00 AM. Pick-up for half-day campers will occur at 12:30 PM (campers will eat lunch before being dismissed). Pick-up for full-day campers will begin at 3:00 PM. Upon registration, you will be prompted to list individuals who are authorized to pick up your child from camp. All individuals who are authorized to pick up your camper(s) MUST have a valid photo ID to present to the staff upon arrival.

Additional details regarding the ingress and egress of cars will be provided in early June once all details are finalized. 

• Comfortable, athletic apparel, including sneakers or rubber soled/closed-toe shoes, everyday. NO FLIP FLOPS, SANDALS, CROCS or ANY OTHER OPEN-TOED SHOES AT ANY TIME!
  • For pool days/water-play days, your camper must still wear sneakers or rubber soled/closed-toe shoes, but may bring other shoes that can get wet (e.g. rubber-soled water shoes; Keens/keen-like shoes; extra sneakers that can get wet and extra socks, etc.)
• A backpack, labeled with camper's first and last name.
• A large refillable water bottle labeled with their name.
• Sunscreen - Before arriving to camp, please apply sunscreen to your child and pack extra sunscreen in a Ziploc bag labeled with their name to keep in their backpack. For campers that are unable to reapply sunscreen at camp, the spray or 'dot' method will be used – spray bottles supplied by parents will be sprayed on the campers and they will be responsible for rubbing it in; liquid bottles supplied by parents will be ‘dotted’ onto the camper by the staff members and the camper will be responsible for rubbing it in.
• Lunch in a cooler/insulated bag labeled with their name
• Epipen, inhalers, etc. labeled with their name, packed in the backpack along with extras to be kept in the office.
• An extra change of clothes, labeled with their name, to keep in the backpack
• A towel for drying off after water games and/or sitting on in the grass
• On Field Trips:
  • Campers must their Radnor Day Camp t-shirt on all trips.
  • Their backpack with their every-day items
• At the Pool:
  
  • Swimsuit (if your child is scheduled to swim in the AM, please send them to camp wearing their suit)
  • Quality swim goggles such as Speedo brand (no scuba masks allowed)
  • A lifejacket if needed

Camper behavior will be held in accordance with the established Camper Code of Conduct that is in place for the camp. Details are subject to change. 

The Parks & Recreation Department will continue to serve as the main contact on behalf of the program for all questions related to registration and operating policies and procedures.

 Parents/Guardians will be provided with the contact cellular number of the Camp Director(s) in addition to a list of contact information for the Recreation Department Staff. 

Campers will receive information and listen to announcements each day within their established group.

We will send out any weekly updates or communications by email and they will be published on the Radnor Day Camp website, www.radnor.com/ RDC

 Please notify our department of your camper's daily attendance. Any vacations, appointments, etc. can be communicated in advance by emailing recreation@radnor.org.  

In the event of inclement weather or excessive heat, RDC will take place inside of the Radnor Elementary School facility with a modified schedule, or will be cancelled. In the event of other unforeseen situations such power outages, loss of HVAC, or any other extenuating circumstances, camp may be modified or canceled.

In the event of a serious camp emergency that requires information to be communicated quickly, communications will be distributed via an emergency notification mass-text message and by email.

All other camp-related information, such as weekly schedules, reminders, etc. will be distributed via email.
